I started my foray into Digital Marketing in 2012 when I came across Google Analytics while working on a project with Konga, one of Nigeria’s largest e-commerce brands. Before then I was comfortable with data having been involved with using SPSS and Microsoft Excel to analyze and present data for different academic projects.

The Konga project with Green Street Media where I was the content lead involved with developing and producing product review videos for YouTube. We were able to produce more than 40 key product reviews within the first 3 months, contributing to the increase in online brand awareness by 60%.

During that time, I took the Google Analytical Fundamental course.

A year later, I started working on a project for UNICEF as a research analyst with Webhaptics on the Nigerian side of the WASH project. My daily responsibility was to gather, verify, sort and analyse quantitative and qualitative data. Coordinating 2 teams in Rivers and Anambra states and finalizing reports from 4 other teams, we were able to determine WASH (water, sanitation and health) challenges in certain peri-urban areas in Nigeria across the 6 geo-political zones.

One major lesson I absorbed greatly working with Webhaptics and their various partners like GIRACT, Parthenon and others is: “the juice is in the small details. You have to squeeze it out.”

Thereafter I moved into a Digital Advertising Sales role with Anozim Digital. Even though I didn’t have any specific skill sets for this role, the CEO, Onyeka Akumah took a chance on me and I was privileged to join the team. I launched into the deep immediately and started coordinating the loose sales teams of the media partners. Within a year, we were able to improve Ad efficiency, and customer relationships and generate more than 150% in y-o-y revenue.

That opportunity opened me to digital advertising with traditional media companies.

A year after and now with Independent Newspapers, the publishers of independent.ng, I was able to guide the team to start the project from scratch. We achieved a 130% y-o-y increase in traffic and 70% y-o-y in revenue over a 5-year period.

I was able to leverage all this experience and joined the Community training project of Google Digital Skills with Haptics Nigeria in 2017. I trained over 1,500 participants in soft and digital skills within 18 months, including students and professionals from all walks of life.

During that same period, I was also invited to be a part of another community training by the Lagos State Employability Support Project. The project was aimed at delivering employable digital skills to interested members of society between 18 and 35 at no cost to them but fully sponsored by the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). I trained over 150 participants with about 50% of them gaining internship opportunities. In 2021, I became a curriculum developer and Master Trainer on the project. We went on to train more than another set of 150 participants with over 75% of them gaining internship opportunities.

Also in 2017, I started Calibri Solutions to provide digital marketing services to clients at home and abroad. Our main scope of work is to bridge the gap of guest post services with top Nigerian websites by increasing their revenue opportunities and providing value to potential clients.

I continue to engage with different online trainings to sharpen my skill sets. I completed Google’s AdWords and Analytics courses, HubSpot’s inbound marketing course, received a CXL mini-degree in Conversion Rate Optimization, and also very recently completed the Google Data Analytics Course with proficiencies in Excel, SQL, R, Python and Tableau.
